Working Principle Explained

This latch uses a classic lever and over-center (toggle-lock) mechanism. The hook pivots on a fixed base plate. When the lid is closed, the operator presses the hook downward. The hook engages an opening in the strike plate mounted on the case body. Further downward rotation generates a pulling force that draws the lid tightly against the case. When the latch is fully pressed flat (flush with the base plate), the mechanism passes the over-center point and self-locks.
