Both are over-center latching mechanisms, but they differ in design and application:

• Draw latches - the catch pulls directly toward the latch body in a straight line. Lower profile, cleaner appearance, commonly used on case lids and access panels where you want a flush look. The clamping force is applied perpendicular to the mounting surface.
• Toggle latches - the lever rotates upward/downward in an arc. Higher clamping force, easier to grip and operate with gloves, but more protrusion. Typically used on front-opening doors and heavy equipment enclosures.

Choose draw latches when you want a sleek, low-profile look on a lid or door. Choose toggle latches when you need maximum clamping force or easier gloved operation.

Standard draw latches can be used in moderate vibration environments, but for heavy vibration you should look for specific features:

• Spring-loaded catches - maintain tension and prevent rattling
• Secondary safety locks - prevent accidental release from impact
• Rubber bumper cushions - absorb vibration and reduce noise
