Working Principle and Mechanical Advantage

This latch operates on a classic lever and over-center (toggle-lock) mechanism. Mount the hook on the lid and the strike plate on the opposing case body. Pressing the hook downward slides it into the strike plate opening, generating linear clamping force. As the hook flattens flush with the base plate, the mechanism passes the over-center point, creating a self-locking state. In this position, any external vibration or shock actually tightens the latch further rather than causing it to open. This design is widely used in flight cases, precision instrument boxes, and medical carts where vibration resistance is critical. To open, simply lift the tail of the hook. • Mark three Ø4.2mm mounting hole positions on both the lid and the case body per the technical drawing.
• Drill holes using a Ø4.3mm bit. For metal cases, tap M4 threads; for wood or plastic, use self-tapping screws.
• Use SUS304 stainless steel M4 pan head or countersunk screws. Length depends on wall thickness (typically 8-10mm). Use anti-rust washers.
• Mount the hook on the lid edge and the strike plate on the corresponding case body position, ensuring the hook enters the strike plate opening centrally when closed.
• Apply medium-strength threadlocker (e.g., Loctite 243) to prevent vibration loosening, and torque to approximately 2-3 N·m.
• Test closure: You should feel a distinct "click" over-center when fully pressed. No visible gap should remain between lid and case.
