5401-122-KS Long Pattern Latch Hook
Product Overview
The 5401-122-KS is an industrial-grade long pattern latch hook designed for demanding transport and equipment applications. As an essential part of a complete latching system, it must be used with a matching strike plate. NRH has been dedicated to case hardware since 1996[reference:6]. This model is manufactured from premium mild steel with a yellow zinc plating finish, delivering excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical durability.
Working Principle
This latch operates on a classic lever and over-center mechanism. The latch hook mounts on the lid, while the strike plate mounts on the case body. When pressed downward, the hook slides into the strike plate opening, generating tension. As the latch flattens completely, the mechanism passes the over-center point, creating a stable, self-locking state. In this position, external vibration tends to press the latch further closed rather than opening it. To open, simply lift the latch hook upward to disengage.
Key Features
- Material & Finish: Premium mild steel with yellow zinc plating - offers superior corrosion resistance and wear resistance, ideal for humid or demanding industrial environments.
- High Load Capacity: Rated for 40kg - suitable for heavy-duty cases and equipment fastening requirements.
- Vibration-Resistant & Anti-Loosening Design: The over-center mechanism creates a self-locking state. Once fully closed, it effectively resists loosening caused by transport and mechanical vibration.
- Flexible Mounting: The base plate features three Ø4.5mm through holes and three Ø8mm countersunk holes, compatible with pan head or countersunk screws for various installation scenarios.
Key Dimensions
Overall length is 122mm. The base plate features six mounting holes: three Ø4.5mm through holes and three Ø8mm countersunk holes, allowing both standard installation and flush mounting with countersunk screws.
Typical Applications
This model is widely used in the following demanding fields[reference:7][reference:8]:
- Flight Cases: The high load capacity and vibration resistance are critical for protecting delicate equipment in professional transit cases.
- Military & Firefighting Cases: The robust construction and vibration-resistant design meet rigorous standards for military equipment and firefighting tool storage.
- Medical Equipment: Provides reliable locking force for mobile medical carts and emergency cases, ensuring safety during transit.
- Heavy-Duty Cases & Industrial Applications: Ideal for heavy-duty luggage, tool travel cases, industrial wooden cases, and machinery access doors.
Installation and Maintenance
For proper use and longevity, please follow these guidelines:
- Preparation: Accurately mark hole positions based on the product's physical hole spacing before installation[reference:9].
- Installation Tips: Ensure the latch hook and strike plate are precisely aligned. Use rivets, screws, or spot welding for a secure fix[reference:10]. Using anti-vibration washers is recommended.
- Storage and Care: Store in a dry place to avoid rust or oxidation[reference:11]. Do not modify the hole spacing or disassemble the latch, as this may cause damage[reference:12].
Quality & Compliance
All units are load-tested and fatigue-tested. Certifications (e.g., RoHS, REACH, etc.) are available upon request. We support OEM/ODM customization and provide full technical drawings.
